OSCAR-winning actress Dame Emma Thompson has her bag checked by security while shopping.

The screen legend, 65, was left shocked at high end clothing store Maje in Hampstead, North London.

A shopping assistant is said to have tailed her at the store before asking to look in her bag at the exit.

She had a gold watch and large ring on as she held the bag open for inspection by a female guard.

Dame Emma, wearing a light grey hat and dark jumper, laughed it off but did not look happy as she left.

She was seen clutching a bag from the retailer earlier this week.

The Harry Potter star cut a casual figure with a backpack and a jacket wrapped around her waist.
